Comparing sexual content in American media and Asian media? by media i mean films and television...why are American medias are usually filled with explicit and constant sexual scenes and erotica while Asian media is filled with little or none. There are sex scenes in asian media, but they are used sparingly...Whats ur thoughts? | Asian media is controlled by fairly strict censorship which generally disallows explicit sexual content or nudity but is also used to curb political ideas. The reason for censorship is so as to preserve "Asian values and traditions"and sensitivities from anything the "censors" decide should be snipped.
The explicit nature of American movies and TV is probably due to the fact that for a long time heavy censorship existed, and this began to erode in the 1960's. Each phase of the ensuing years has seen the door being open a bit more as things got more acceptable and the capacity of media to "shock"
diminished. The situation that prevails in America today is as "free" as it can go, and many in Asia fear that it may follow suit. | Are there Asian theories/models of human sexuality? In the West, models of human sexuality exist in the works of such authors as Chodorow, Freud, Foucault and others. But is there an Oriental model--one philosophizing sexuality in the East? Foucault somewhat looked at that, the ars erotica, in his "The History of Sexuality." But nonetheless, he is a Western, not Eastern, philosopher. | | What about Kama Sutra? That dabbles in sensuality and sexuality. | Black people or Library goers have you noticed that the AA section in the Library is a bunch of erotica? There's no sun on the west coast so I decided to go to the Library for the first day of spring break. Yay... When I went to the African American section of the library all a bunch of romance novels.
They had blacks with blacks, blacks with whites, blacks with latinos, blacks with asians. :/
And the weirdest thing was that I was the only black person in the aisle. 0_0
I've noticed this in some Barnes & Nobles, So I am I the only one who's noticed this or not? | | Dang, I thought I was the only one! Haha, it's crazy because my friend and I were the only black people in that aisle full of white people! And these two white men were deeply into this book that was titled "Momma's Baby, Daddy's Maybe" they looked like they were sitting there for a long time because they were like through half the book! But hey, atleast they're reading right? |
